UNITE AND FIGHT TO SAVE ST CROSS!

St Cross services are yet again under threat - this time they want to down grade our Accident and Emergency (A&E) service at our hospital - this follows on from the recent closure of the mental health unit (Linden Unit) so forcing local people with severe mental health problems to Coventry Hospital – this was then followed by closing the Hawthorn Ward at St Cross and sending our elderly sick patients with dementia and depression to victual exile in Nuneaton.

Only the Rugby Green Party and our Parliamentary candidate Roy Sandison opposed both these closures at the time and we will again over the closure of our A & E Department.

Tory MP for Rugby, Mark Pawsey is trying to deflect any mentioned that this is anything to do with the severe cuts in public spending by his CON DEM Government, instead he talks about the need to look at service provision as an ‘health issue’ - Strangely the same thing his father, arch Thatcherite Jim Pawsey MP for Rugby, said when they closed maternity services at St Cross.

New Labour in Rugby has in an opportunist way, set up a campaign to save the A&E service - all well and good but if people cast their mind back to former Labour MP Andy King, he was as complicit as Pawsey (senior) was over the closures of services at St Cross during the time his party was in power!

The Libs Dems through their leader and former parliamentary hopeful Jerry Roodhouse are also trying to use the issue to give him and themselves a platform -Unfortunately this does not stand up to scrutiny when his party the Lib Dems are part of the very CON DEM Government who are forcing through the cuts!
