ST CROSS ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY DEPT TO BECOME 'FIRST AID CENTRE!'

A 'Consultation' is taking place about closing the Accident & Emergency Dept at Rugby St Cross - The plan by NHS Warwickshire is to change the 24 hour service from a 24 hour doctor led service into a glorified First Aid service run by a nurse who can provide little more than basic pain killers.

The Green Party believes the real reason these cuts are taking place is to save money - We have lost the Linden Unit inpatient mental health ward and also the Hawthorn ward whereby our vulnerable friends and relatives suffering from mental health problems and dementia are now sent to virtual exile in Coventry and Nuneaton respectively.

The cuts to our essential services are being pushed by the CON Dem Government - Who are also closing the NHS Direct Service - which along with the proposed closure of the A & E Dept will put local people at risk – even more so, if they do not have a car or means to get to the hospital on the outskirts of Coventry

Our Tory MP, Mark Pawsey has organised a public meeting at the Benn Hall, Newbold Road at 7pm on Thursday 8th September – Make him aware that Rugby people will not let his government put the lives of local people at risk!

The ‘Consultation’ can be found at https://consultations.warwickshire.nhs.uk/cons_rugbyurgentcare.aspx?id=6 and closes on the 18th October 2010.

UNITE AND FIGHT

TO SAVE ST CROSS!
